GMTK 2026 Jam — theme: *Count Down*

A soft "strategy" game with auto-battler like elements. Generate resources, produce units travelling along a lane, battling any foes who get in their way.

The idea

"Count Down" can be interpreted in so many many ways, so just went with simple everything counts down. Counttingency cards serve as the main resource counting down as they work:

Card in a resource building produces its own value every tick, ticking down by one, until it reaches zero and is spent.

Barracks requires three cards and become a unit's **HP**, **ATK** and **DEF** stats. The barracks keeps rolling units out every tick off the same trio-set, those cards count down too, so each unit marches out weaker than the one before it.

Unit's attack counts down every time it swings, stopping at a minimum of 1.

Every number on is counting down towards zero, no counting up. That's blaspehmy.

How to play

Drag numbered cards from hand onto buildings.

Sawmill / Quarry / Ironworks provide a cards value as wood / stone / iron resource every tick.

Barracks need all three slots filled, and a unit has to be paid for; ATK costs wood, DEF costs stone, HP costs iron. Pay once, then the set keeps producing until its cards run out.

Units march down one of three lanes, fight whatever they run into, and attempt to destroy the enemy wall at the end of the line.

First side to break the other's wall wins. A match runs a few minutes on average.

A card committed to a building can't be picked back up. They can only be swapped out for a different card, swapping out a card placed into a barracks requires the cost of the new set be paid anew.

Controls:
`A` / `D` pan the camera · drag cards with the mouse · `Space` pause the clock · `1` / `2` / `3` tick speed · `Esc` menu

This is my first game jam submission and my first bigger project in Godot. Tagged as what it is, a prototype: the loop runs end to end and a simple AI reads which lanes you're pushing and tries to respond accordingly, but it's rough, light on vfx/feedback, and not really balanced.

Any and all feedback is much appreciated!
